WARNING ABOUT SCAM PAYMENT SITES:
We've seen scams on the internet that direct customers to another site to make their electric bill payments. Some of the websites even use the Pontotoc Electric logo to make them appear official.
These alternate payment sites may hold a customer's payment for days or even weeks before sending the payment to Pontotoc Electric. In some cases, payment may never reach Pontotoc Electric.
Customers should protect themselves from the scam sites by making payments only through www.pepa.com.
Automatic Bank Draft is the simplest and easiest way to pay your monthly electric bill. When you sign up for Pontotoc Electric Power Association’s bank draft service, you not only save money by eliminating your postage charges, you also save some of your valuable time and avoid the risk of having late charges add to your bill. With the Automatic Bank Draft payment plan, the bank takes care of the transaction and you, the Pontotoc Electric Power Association member, just have to adjust your banking account accordingly. Bank Draft makes paying your electric bill easier and more convenient. All you have to do is fill out a Bank Draft Authorization Form that authorizes Pontotoc Electric Power Association to send a draft to your bank each month in the amount of your electric bill. You will continue to receive a bill, but it will have the words “DO NOT PAY” printed on the statement. Your bill will be mailed to you 15 days prior to sending the draft to the bank. Your bank account will be drafted on the due date shown on your Pontotoc Electric Power Association bill. To participate in the Bank Draft payment plan, download the BANK DRAFT AUTHORIZATION FORM and return it to the Pontotoc or Bruce office.

Paying a bill by mail is the most traditional way to make a payment. If this is your choice, simply use the payment envelope included with your bill statement each month. Add postage and enclose your payment, check or money order (no cash please), along with the bottom portion of your bill statement. When making your payment, please write your account number on your check or money order before mailing. Allow at least three to five days for delivery.
Online banking may be an option you can utilize through your bank. However, as with most things there are advantages and disadvantages. With online bill payment, you key your bill payment request into the computer and submit it to the bank. The bank will then debit your account for the amount designated, and simply pay the bill. That means fewer checks to write, fewer stamps to buy, and fewer trips to the post office. However, keep in mind, that while online banking may be easier and more convenient, it is not always the fastest or cheapest way to pay bills. While convenient, online bill paying is certainly not instant. In fact, it may take considerably longer than if you were to send a check yourself. That’s because when you submit your payment online, it may require several extra days to process before being printed and placed in the mail. That means you need to plan your payments well in advance to avoid late charges. So be aware, despite the conveniences of online banking and bill paying, there may be charges that could make it more expensive.
